The Hornets are 10-11 without Lonzo Ball on the court

Another big reason why LaMelo Ball should be this year’s Rookie of the Year is because he has made such an impact on the Hornets in his first season. In the 21 games he missed, the Hornets went 10-11 and they were worse offensively without him on the court.

In those 21 games without Ball, Charlotte averaged 105.5 points per game, whereas in the 44 games with Ball, the Hornets averaged 111.7 points per game. Some other factors may go into why the Hornets have been more successful in those games, but there is a clear positive correlation with the Hornets’ success and Ball being on the court.

Given all the ways he can help the Hornets win games on both ends of the court, he has solidified himself as a key member of this franchise and while they do have a crowded backcourt with Terry Rozier, Devonte’ Graham and others, Ball has stuck out because of everything he can do to help Charlotte win games.

Not many other rookies have had the kind of impact LaMelo Ball has had in terms of helping the Hornets win games, which is why he has a strong chance to be named this year’s Rookie of the Year.
