LaMelo Ball has been the most “complete” rookie all season long in terms of stats

When he has been on the court, LaMelo Ball has not only been one of the best rookie guards in the league, but he has been one of the best all-around point guards in the league! Ball is averaging 15.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.6 steals on the season, while also shooting 37.3% from three-point range.

From being able to score on any given possession, to being able to find his open teammates, to being able to be a really reliable one-on-one defender, there is really nothing that LaMelo Ball has struggled with in his rookie season, which is why he has stood out amongst the rest of this year’s rookie class.

Maybe you can point to his 2.9 turnovers per game being somewhat of an issue, but his turnover to assist ratio is still about 2.1:1, which is definitely above-average for a rookie point guard in this league.

Out of all rookies in the league, Ball ranks 2nd in points per game, 2nd in rebounds per game, first in assists per game, 4th in total steals and he ranks 4th in total field goals made. Even though he missed a total of 21 games, LaMelo Ball is still amongst the rookie leaders in virtually every major statistical category, which is why he has proven that he is this year’s Rookie of the Year.
