Why Anthony Edwards deserves to win NBA Rookie of the Year

From the time he committed to play at the University of Georgia to the time he declared for the 2020 NBA Draft, it seemed like Anthony Edwards was the undisputed #1 overall pick in everybody’s eyes and that turned out to be true when the Minnesota Timberwolves selected him first overall this past year. 

With no Summer League to prepare for the NBA and really no time to get acclimated with his new team, Edwards had a shaky start to the year and it took some time for him to get used to playing at the NBA level, but after about the first month into the season, Edwards immediately became one of the Timberwolves “go-to” players.

Since mid-February, Anthony Edwards has arguably been the second-best scoring threat for the Timberwolves next to Karl-Anthony Towns and he has been one of the most impressive rookies all season long. 

Anthony Edwards is going to be a focal point in the Timberwolves offensive attack for many years to come, but given how well he has played this year, it is not crazy to believe that he deserves to win this year’s NBA Rookie of the Year honors.
