Indiana Pacers Receive: F Gordon Hayward, C Vernon Carey Jr.

Charlotte Hornets Receive: C Myles Turner, G/F Jeremy Lamb

The Hornets are going to need to address their frontcourt in the offseason, as this has been a weak point for them all season long and both Cody Zeller and Bismack Biyombo are set to become free agents, which is why getting Myles Turner would be a huge acquisition for the Hornets.

All season long, Turner has led the league in blocked shots per game and since he entered the league in 2015, he has been one of the best defensive players in the entire league year-in and year-out. Not only is he in the running for Defensive Player of the Year this year, but Turner is only 25-years-old and is still growing as a player.

Defensively, he is as good as anybody in this league, but offensively is where he is still growing. Turner is not an elite-level scorer in the paint, but he thrives in pick-and-roll sets because he is able to step out on the perimeter after setting a screen and knock down three-point shots at a high rate for a center.

Turner is shooting 33.5% from three-point range on the season and for his career, he has shot 35.2% from long-range. He is exactly the kind of center the Hornets need moving forward, but will they be willing to part ways with Gordon Hayward, who has been a huge addition to this team both leadership wise and production wise?

Now, let’s dive into this trade from each team’s perspective and truly see if this trade makes sense for both the Indiana Pacers and the Charlotte Hornets.
