Whether or not the Nets win the title, they will not have the cap space to be able to go after other high-level talents available in NBA free agency, but going after a guy like Carmelo Anthony, who is affordable for a minimum contract, makes a ton of sense.

The Nets made moves to bring in Blake Griffin and LaMarcus Aldridge when they got bought out of their contracts and they also got Jeff Green to sign a veteran’s minimum contract, so getting Carmelo Anthony on the same type of contract would be right up their alley.

This Nets franchise is chasing rings and seeing as Anthony does not have a championship ring, he could look to go to a team that has the best chance of winning a title. Not only could he contribute for the Nets off-the-bench, but he could also help them in their quest of winning a championship(s).

Brooklyn will be looking to sign key talents to minimum contracts and Carmelo Anthony should be at the top of their list given that he can still be a team’s best scoring option off-the-bench.
