Houston Rockets
Russell Westbrook was shipped off to Washington prior to the start of the season, James Harden was sent to Brooklyn in January so do you know what that meant for the Rockets? That meant it was time to begin “tanking!”
Since trading Harden, the Rockets have gone 13-42 and have done a really nice job at embracing the tank because they currently have the worst record in the entire league! D.J. Augustin, Dante Exum, Avery Bradley, Sterling Brown, Eric Gordon, Danuel House, David Nwaba and now John Wall have all been out and have missed a large portion of time, which has made this “tanking” process that much easier for the Rockets!
In the process, they have found Christian Wood, Kevin Porter Jr. and Jae’Sean Tate as three young, core build blocks for them to utilize as part of their core moving forward.

Who knows how long John Wall will be with the Rockets organization, but right now, they are on their way to having three first-round picks in this year’s NBA Draft, including the potential #1 overall pick!
“Tanking” has brought the Houston Rockets a lot of good future fortune and while we will not know if this process truly paid off in terms of getting the #1 overall pick until the NBA Draft Lottery in June, the Rockets are set up for a lot of success in the post-Harden era.
