3 teams who are mastering the “art of tanking” this NBA season

“Tanking” has been one of the biggest issues the NBA has been trying to fix over the years, but everytime a new rule is added to try and negate “tanking,” teams always are quick to find loopholes. Basically, when a team is “tanking,” it means that they are doing everything they can to try and lose games without throwing them. 

This could mean keeping their star players because of “injuries” or simply pulling their best players during a game for an “elongated” period of rest, ultimately causing the team to lose.

Teams have been looking for advantages to get a better chance at the top overall pick in the NBA Draft when they know their season is a lost cause and while the NBA has tried to fix this, teams have still found ways to tank. 

One of the ways the NBA has tried to stop “tanking” is by implementing a new system for determining the #1 overall pick. They still use the NBA Draft Lottery to determine the top of the draft order, but now, the three worst teams in the league each have a 14% chance of ending up with the #1 overall pick. 

This gives the teams at the bottom of the standings some “wiggle room” in terms of winning some games if they have one of the worst records in the league, but overall, plenty of teams have still “tanked” and they are currently doing so this year!
