The Portland Trail Blazers have been an interesting NBA team to watch in the Western Conference for years now and while they did make the Western Conference Finals in 2019, ultimately losing to the Golden State Warriors, it seems like this team has not really made any significant progress.

Damian Lillard is still one of the top overall players in the entire league and his “partner in crime” CJ3 teams who should keep tabs on potential CJ McCollum trade in offseason McCollum is still one of the better shooting guards in the league, but does this team truly have a chance to win a title with their current roster?

On paper, with guys like Norman Powell, Carmelo Anthony, Robert Covington, Jusef Nurkic and Enes Kanter next to their superstar backcourt, it seems like the Blazers should be competing for one of the top spots in the Western Conference, yet they find themselves 33-28 and currently the 7-seed in the Western Conference, meaning that they will likely have to earn their playoff spot this year through the play-in tournament.

Defensively, the Portland Trail Blazers are absolutely terrible and they have not seemed to make any adjustments on that end of the court all year long. Something is missing with Portland and while Lillard and McCollum are not the two guys in question, moving CJ McCollum could be the right move to make if the Blazers can get a ton in return value wise.

It sounds crazy to think that they would trade one of their two best players, but this team needs to free up some cap space to try and get better defensively and add more overall weapons to their roster, which is why McCollum is a player the Blazers could potentially listen to offers for in the offseason.

If C.J. McCollum does become a part of NBA trade rumors and trade talks in the offseason, here are three teams who should keep tabs on the potential All-Star guard’s availability.
