Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors need more of an immediate impact from its supporting cast than what they’ve been receiving. Before suffering a season-ending injury, James Wiseman was quite raw in his development and that was to be expected when considering his history. Getting value in return for him would be wise to maximize Stephen Curry’s prime.
Andrew Wiggins has been a solid contributor but he isn’t the cleanest of fits. He would ideally be swapped out by Luguentz Dort and would form quite an intriguing defensive tandem on the wing alongside Draymond Green and Klay Thompson next season.
Al Horford would give the Warriors an immediate upgrade at the center position as they look to pursue another championship while Stephen Curry is on the roster and he could surely help them do that. Horford can provide a combination of perimeter shooting, facilitation, and defensive versatility.

In this scenario, the Warriors would be moving on from the first round pick they received in the D’Angelo Russell trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves. If the T-Wolves finish inside the top 3 after the NBA Draft Lottery, Minnesota keeps the pick. Otherwise, Golden State would receive a 2022 selection.
