Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Oklahoma City Thunder
The Oklahoma City Thunder clearly are focused on building around Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but first want to add as many NBA Draft choices as possible to pull it off correctly. It’s a respectable strategy when considering Sam Presti’s track record in the top five of the draft.
This is a good trade for the Oklahoma City Thunder because they are able to land some great talent to immediately enhance their roster. A roster that includes Andrew Wiggins and James Wiseman in it could be pivotal in helping the Thunder rebound from a poor season this year.
This trade is focused on James Wiseman’s arrival, and rightfully so, but the addition of Andrew Wiggins is very underrated. Andrew Wiggins has proven to be a star with the Golden State Warriors and his ability to play either forward or guard positions could make him very valuable to the Thunder. Now, imagine after the Thunder add more talent through the NBA Draft?

James Wiseman has proven to be a very solid rookie for the Golden State Warriors before an injury ended his season. Wiseman and Wiggins joining a solidly built Thunder squad could have a major impact on the roster moving forward. If the Thunder make this trade, they could be in the playoffs next season if they wanted, or they could look to re-route Wiggins elsewhere at the 2022 NBA trade deadline.
