3 offseason targets that would take the Wizards to the next level

While they started the season off as one of the worst teams in the NBA, the Washington Wizards have now won 10 of their last 11 games, including eight consecutive games for the first time since 2001 when a guy named Michael Jordan was playing for them!

Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal have been carrying the Wizards during the second-half of the season and given their recent surge, the Washington Wizards currently find themselves 27-33 and two games up on the Chicago Bulls and Toronto Raptors for the 10-seed in the Eastern Conference.

Given that the 9-seed and 10-seed have a chance to compete in a play-in tournament to make the playoff field this season in both the Eastern and Western Conferences, the Wizards’ playoff hopes are still very much alive.

With 12 games left on their schedule, the Wizards still have work to do, especially since 7 of their remaining 12 games are against teams that currently have a winning record. Washington is going to have to continue playing at a high-level, but with arguably one of the best backcourts in the league with Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal, the Wizards have a really good chance at making the play-in tournament this year.

Regardless of whether or not the Wizards make the playoffs, this team is still far away from being a contender in the Eastern Conference, which is why they should be preparing to make a big move in the offseason. At the trade deadline, the Wizards did not make any significant moves, but may have found their center of the future in Daniel Gafford.

Surrounding their two superstars with more talent heading into next season should be this front-office’s goal and as a result, let’s take a look at three big name offseason targets that could help take the Washington Wizards to new heights next season.
