3 takeaways from Stephen Curry’s historic play this season

The run Stephen Curry has been on during the month of April has been something we have never seen before in NBA history and he is single-handedly carrying the Golden State Warriors to the playoffs. Whether or not he deserves to be in the MVP conversation this year is a whole separate discussion, but what Curry is doing needs to be appreciated.

Through 13 games during the month of April, Stephen Curry is currently averaging 38.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and is shooting 52.9% from the floor and 47.2% from three-point range. Not to mention, Curry has eclipsed 30+ points in 12 of the 13 games he has played this month, including a 53 point performance against the Denver Nuggets on April 12th!

Curry just cannot be stopped right now and he is completely locked in every time he is out there on the court. The Warriors have won 8 of their last 11 now thanks to Steph and they are currently holding onto their play-in tournament position.

Adding onto what kind of month Curry has had, he has not only set a new NBA record for the Most Three-Pointers Made in a Single Month in NBA History with a total of 85 made threes and counting, but Curry now has six games this season in which he has made at least 10 three-pointers. No other player in NBA history has more than 5 games in their entire career with 10+ threes in a game!

With Stephen Curry scoring 49 points against the Philadelphia 76ers last week, as well, Curry recorded his 5th 40-point game in the month of April, passing the late, great Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan for the most 40-point games in a month by a player age-33 or older!

By the time he is ready to retire, Stephen Curry is going to go down as one of the All-Time greatest players in NBA history given that he has changed the game of basketball and the way we look at the three-point shot. However, Curry is not close to retiring anytime soon and this could just be a glimpse into what the future holds for the 2x MVP and the Golden State Warriors.
