Why Davion Mitchell should be considered a top 10 pick

This year’s draft class is very “top heavy,” but there are still some intriguing prospects who could end being great NBA players who are currently projected to be picked outside of the Top-5. One of those players who has a chance to be a very sustainable NBA player for a long time is Davion Mitchell.

The Junior guard out of Baylor was a part of the National Championship team that just took down the undefeated Gonzaga Bulldogs and Mitchell was a big part of Baylor’s success all season long.

After starting his career at Auburn during the 2017-18 season, Mitchell transferred to Baylor and saw his game blossom. Davion Mitchell transformed himself into one of the best two-way players in the entire country and this past season, he averaged 14.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.9 steals and shot 44.7% from three-point range.

All season long, Mitchell stepped up in big games for the Baylor Bears and in the National Championship, his two-way play was key for them upsetting Gonzaga and winning their school’s first national championship.

All-around, Davion Mitchell is a very solid and intriguing prospect, even though he is 22-years-old and turning 23 in September. He does not have the potential for growth like some of the other younger, high-level prospects in this draft class, but Mitchell’s game is going to translate to the NBA perfectly and could immediately make an impact for whatever team he is on.

With that said, let’s take a look at three reasons why Davion Mitchell has turned himself into a Top-10 prospect in this year’s NBA Draft and why he could be one of the most impactful draft prospects this year.
