This season, the Orlando Magic have dealt with a ton of injuries and now, after trading away Nikola Vucevic, Evan Fournier and Aaron Gordon at the NBA trade deadline, the Magic will now be facing an uphill journey once again as they begin yet another rebuilding process.
With a lot of young talent in Cole Anthony, Markelle Fultz, Jonathan Isaac, Chuma Okeke. Mo Bamba and Dwayne Bacon though, this rebuild may be significantly different for the Magic. They already have a bunch of young players on their roster, but it will take time to get them experience and to continue stockpiling young talent to develop into potential stars.
After trading away their three top players, the Magic acquired Gary Harris, R.J. Hampton, Wendell Carter Jr, Otto Porter Jr, three future first-round picks and two future second-round picks, thus adding onto their slew of draft picks and young talents.
Moving forward, Hampton and Carter Jr. are expected to be big parts of the Magic’s young core, but Otto Porter Jr. is set to be a free agent at the end of the season and Gary Harris’ future in Orlando is very much up-in-the-air. Both he and Terrence Ross are two guys who Orlando could possibly look to move in the offseason or at next year’s NBA trade deadline for more future assets.

Whatever is in store for the Magic as an organization, they will still need to take time to develop their young talents further and find that star player to build with and around. With some movable contracts and a solid amount of draft compensation, could they speed things up and trae for an established star in the offseason?
