The Pelicans already have one Texas big man on their roster and could be in the market for another. Jaxson Hayes is in the midst of his second year in New Orleans and has been underwhelming to this point. Kai Jones is another Longhorn with a huge upside coming into the league. It all depends on if the Pelicans want a big with more of a polished skillset.

Kai Jones is not a huge offensive threat. He is a pick-and-roll option that can dive to the rim because of his crazy athleticism. Jones began incorporating a jump shot into his game and that will continue to improve. Over the early part of his career, Jones will use his defensive prowess to dominate.

He has great length and can act as a rim protector and shot blocker. This is where he excelled at Texas. At the next level, Kai Jones will have to get stronger so he is not pushed around. His game is raw and has plenty of room for improvement.

This is a project for the Pelicans but Kai Jones has a high ceiling and can turn into a productive big man. He will have the opportunity as a lottery pick and will have to develop wherever he ends up.
