Washington Wizards
While the Washington Wizards currently have a shot to make the play-in tournament in the Eastern Conference, the chances of them making it to the playoff field as the 8-seed seem very slim and even if they do, they are not going to put up much of a fight against the Philadelphia 76ers or the Brooklyn Nets.
As a result, it is back to the drawing board for the Wizards in the offseason, but a big concern for them is financial flexibility. Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal take up about $78.7M in cap space entering the offseason, not giving the Wizards a lot of flexibility in terms of being able to add more talent to this team.
Building young seems to be the route Washington wants to go, as they have young talents in Deni Avdija, Daniel Gafford and Rui Hachimura, so going after a guy like Obi Toppin makes a ton of sense for them.
Coming out of Dayton, Toppin was known for being a high-flying, athletic forward who could also stretch the court, which is exactly the kind of flexible frontcourt player the Wizards need. They need someone who can run rim-to-rim and be on the receiving end of lobs from Russell Westbrook, which is exactly what Obi Toppin can do.

Sitting behind Rui Hachimura in the frontcourt and coming off the bench in the second-unit for the Wizards could definitely create a promising situation for Washington and at the price of a first-round pick, getting Obi Toppin is very much worthwhile for the Wizards.
