Nemanja Bjelica – Miami Heat

At the NBA trade deadline, the Miami Heat made a big move to acquire Victor Oladipo from the Houston Rockets, but they also made a move to add veteran forward Nemanja Bjelica from the Sacramento Kings in exchange for Mo Harkless and Chris Silva.

Bjelica came to Miami with the ability to stretch the court and give them another experienced, offensive-minded forward in their frontcourt, but he has barely played for them. Since being traded to the Miami Heat, Bjelica has played in just eight games and has averaged 2.8 points, 2.0 rebounds and has shot 18.8% from three-point range.

On the other end of things, Maurice Harkless played a minimal role in Miami before being traded to Sacramento and now with the Kings, he is starting and playing some very valuable minutes.

In 13 games with the Kings this year, Harkless has averaged 6.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and has shot 43.5% from the floor. In fact, over his last six games, Mo Harkless is averaging 9.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and is shooting 45.5% from the floor.

It seems like the Kings definitely won this trade given the production that Harkless has given them and for the Heat, Bjelica does not seem to hold value for them unless someone gets hurt. Maybe this move was made just to add depth and an extra “security blanket” in the frontcourt, but overall, this trade has not worked out for the Miami Heat.
