Dallas could have to fight for their playoff lives in the play-in tournament
The one team that is not happy to see Anthony Davis returning to action is the Dallas Mavericks. Not only do they have to play the Lakers in back-to-back games, but they will now have to gameplan for Anthony Davis, who will take advantage of their weak frontcourt.
The Mavericks currently sit as the 7-seed in the Western Conference and with the recent downwards trend the Lakers had been in and Portland struggling recently without Damian Lillard, there was a chance that they could play their way out of the play-in tournament, but now these hips are starting to disappear.
Dallas is 5-5 in their last 10 games and with some tough games down the stretch-run of the regular season, having two games against the Lakers without both LeBron James and Anthony Davis would have been great, but now they will likely have to face Davis in at least one of these games.
Anthony Davis’ return to the lineup against the Mavericks will mark the start of a back-to-back series in Dallas for the Lakers. Managing to get a pair of wins could potentially go a long way in solidifying the Mavs as a team headed for the NBA’s Play-In Tournament.

He will be on a minutes restriction and Dallas has been playing some better basketball as of late, but the more games this team loses, the less chance they have of playing their way out of the play-in tournament.
