San Antonio Spurs Receive: C Mo Bamba
Orlando Magic Receive: F Devin Vassell
One-for-one is how this deal would work between the Spurs and the Magic. The Spurs get Mo Bamba and the Orlando Magic get the Spurs’ first-round pick from this past year in Devin Vassell.
Bamba’s role has increased with the Orlando Magic since they traded Nikola Vucevic, but overall, it seems like Wendell Carter Jr, Jonathan Isaac and Chuma Okeke will be the three key pieces of the Magic’s frontcourt moving forward.
After next season, both Bamba and Carter Jr. are going to be free agents, which is why this move could make sense for the Magic now. They most likely will not want to give long-term contracts to both young centers, so Bamba being traded in the offseason or at the NBA trade deadline next year is definitely a possibility.
The former 6th overall pick in 2018 has seen his minutes increase since this year’s NBA trade deadline and he has delivered, averaging about 16.8 minutes per game since trading Vucevic and averaging about 11.2 points and 5.4 rebounds.

San Antonio has received a much needed boost in their frontcourt from Jakob Poeltl this season, who has posted 10 double-doubles this season. Adding a dynamic, young player like Bamba could definitely be beneficial to them for depth at the center position.
Devin Vassell has been solid in his rookie season with the Spurs, but with Keldon Johnson putting together a great season on the wing, as well as Lonnie Walker IV set to become a free agent, San Antonio could invest their future into these two on the wing instead of Vassell.
Now, let’s take a look at both the Spurs and Magic as a whole and truly see if this trade is not only feasible for both of them, but if it makes sense for the direction both franchises are trending towards.
