Does this trade make sense for the Golden State Warriors?

Much like the Rockets, this trade absolutely makes sense for the Warriors if they are willing to continue spending a ton of money. The Golden State Warriors’ ownership has not been shy to be big spenders in order to remain championship contenders and they made that known this year when they decided to acquire Oubre in the first place to replace Klay Thompson.

Now, with Thompson coming back next season, Wiggins’ contract increasing and Curry eligible for a contract-extension, the Warriors’ finances are not going to be declining anytime soon, which is why they will likely remain “all-in” and look to make as many championship-caliber moves as possible.

Adding Eric Gordon to their roster is a big statement move, even though he is not an All-Star caliber player. He may be 32-years-old and near the back-half of his career, but Eric Gordon can still play significant minutes and be a factor on both ends of the court.

He is the picture perfect, veteran player the Warriors need to not only win another championship, but turn themselves back into one of the most dangerous offensive teams in the league. Just think about what their roster could look like next season if they made this move.

Assuming everyone is healthy, the Warriors would have Curry, Thompson, Wiggins, Green, Wiseman and then Looney, Poole, Lee, Paschall and now Eric Gordon on the bench! They have a chance to do something special with Curry, Thompson and Green still in their primes, which is why the Warriors should highly entertain the idea of adding Eric Gordon.

The Warriors’ bench is really solid already, but they are missing that key, high-level contributor. Gordon can be that guy for them and he would supply this team with the same Sixth-Man of the Year energy he gave the Rockets over the years.

If Golden State can pull off this move, there is no reason why they cannot compete with the best of the best in the Western Conference next season for a chance to win yet another championship.
