Gary Trent Jr. – Toronto Raptors
One of the key free agents that nobody seems to be talking about this offseason is Gary Trent Jr. The 3rd year wing burst onto the scene last season for the Portland Trail Blazers and was a key player for them down the stretch of last season, but they traded him to the Toronto Raptors at the NBA trade deadline this season for Norman Powell.
Now, Trent Jr. is in the final year of his contract and is set to be a restricted free agent like Lonzo Ball is for the Pelicans. While everybody is talking about Ball being a great all-around player and one of the best two-way players available in NBA free agency this year, it is just baffling that nobody is giving Gary Trent Jr. this same kind of recognition!
Not only is he one of the best on-ball perimeter defenders in the NBA today, but Gary Trent Jr. can shoot the you know what out of the ball too! This season in total, Trent Jr. is shooting 39.2% from three-point range and he is taking over seven three-point attempts per game!
At just 22-years-old, Gary Trent Jr. is still growing as an all-around talent and in just a matter of years, he has a chance to not only be one of the best “3-and-D” players in the entire league, but an all-around two-way star.

Other players are getting a lot more attention than Gary Trent Jr. is receiving, but Trent’s value is maybe one of the highest in this pending NBA free agency class. The Raptors will likely look to re-sign Gary Trent Jr. this offseason, but teams like the Pelicans, Knicks, Mavericks and others would be foolish not to try and sign him away from Toronto.
