Stephen Curry Is Having A Better Season Than When He Was Unanimous MVP
Stephen Curry became the NBA’s first unanimous league MVP during the 2015-16 season when he averaged 30.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.7 assists, 2.1 steals and shot 50.4% from the floor, 45.4% from three-point range.
This season, Curry is currently averaging a career-high 31.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.2 steals and is shooting 49.1% from the floor, 43.1% from three-point range. Now, you may say that his numbers are not better this season, but Curry is also averaging more shot attempts per game this year with Thompson being out and his usage rate is a lot higher.
Curry is doing more than he did during his 2015-16 unanimous MVP season and is still putting up equal, if not better scoring numbers, which is why he is having a better overall season this year than he did then.
He won the league MVP hands down then, so why shouldn’t Steph win the award hands down this year? Nikola Jokic and other have had terrific seasons and definitely deserve as much attention as Curry in terms of accolades and honors, but when we are considering who the most valuable player is in the league and what they do for their team, it is hard to make an argument against Curry and what he means to the Warriors this season.

Without him, they may not even win 10 games, which is why Stephen Curry has not only played himself into the MVP conversation this year, but is a dark-horse to potentially win the award with less than a month to go in the regular season!
