Does this trade make sense for the Detroit Pistons?
Quite honestly, nothing about this trade makes sense for the Detroit Pistons. Over the years, the Pistons have been known for making smart moves in free agency and drafting some young talents, but then they go and un-do their great moves by trading talent away.
This front-office has learned from their mistakes and with them starting to put the pieces back together and build something special, they are not going to make the same foolish mistake again by making this deal with the Pelicans.
Jaxson Hayes is a talented young player and Eric Bledsoe could definitely play a role with this team, but what do they gain by trading Josh Jackson, who is having the best year of his career, Mason Plumlee, who is also having a career-year, and Cory Joseph, who they just traded for at the trade deadline this season?
Absolutely nothing about this deal for the Pistons makes sense and quite honestly, it is laughable to think that Detroit would think about making this trade. They have Isaiah Stewart, who is a beast in the paint both scoring and on the glass, so they do not have a need for Jaxson Hayes.

In their backcourt, they have young talents in Killian Hayes, Saben Lee, Dennis Smith Jr. and now a veteran in Cory Joseph, so why would they trade one veteran guard for a more expensive veteran guard who is not really going to make that vast of a difference in them winning games?
The best move the Pistons can make this offseason is no move at all and just getting their team in the gym for more reps and time to play with one another. It is going to take some time for this young team to reach their full potential, but the Pistons have plenty of potential to hopefully turn themselves back into a relevant team in the Eastern Conference in a couple of seasons.
