Detroit Pistons

Detroit has been to the playoffs just twice in the last eleven seasons, losing in the first-round in both 2016 and 2019. While success has been hard to come by for the Pistons, this team definitely has the potential to be a really solid team in the Eastern Conference in a couple of seasons.

The Pistons made one of the best moves from this past offseason when they signed Jerami Grant to a three-year, $60M deal. Not only has Grant put together a breakout season, but he has emerged as the leader of this very young team and is one of the favorites to win this year’s Most Improved Player Award.

Grant was on the cusp of making his first All-Star appearance this season and for good reason. In 50 games this year, Jerami Grant has averaged 22.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and has shot 35.4% from three-point range for the Pistons.

Finding that elite-level player and leader of this team was extremely important for the Pistons to do this year and they have done so, as Grant is a 27-year-old forward that they can build around for many years to come! Not only do they have a star in Grant, but the Pistons have a bunch of young, high-level talents in Isaiah Stewart, Saddiq Bey, Josh Jackson, Hamidou Diallo and others.

With a chance to get the #1 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft and three second-round picks, the Detroit Pistons have yet more chances to add more high-level prospects to their roster, making them one of the teams in the league with the most potential skill and youth wise.

It has been a while since the Detroit Pistons have been relevant in the Eastern Conference, but with an identity and a bunch of young talents, this team is definitely going to be a team to watch next season!
