Will Anthony Davis be on a minute-restriction when he returns to the court?
When he is ready to return from his calf injury, Anthony Davis will most definitely be on a minute-restriction. Not only will his minutes be limited to about 20-25 minutes per game, but he will likely face this restriction for the remainder of the regular season and possibly into the first-round of the playoffs.
With other key guys in Kyle Kuzma, Markieff Morris and now Andre Drummond, the Lakers obviously need Anthony Davis, but they can afford to be cautious with him and make sure he is 100% healthy before having him play a full game.
Davis has not stepped foot in a game since re-aggravating his calf injury in mid-February and by the time he is ready to come back, he would not have played in a game for close to two months!
In order to win another championship, the Lakers will need AD fully healthy and playing at a high-level again, which is why they will be very careful when he is ready to return and why he will face a major minutes-restriction.

If Anthony Davis comes back and gets hurt again, not only will he be shut down for the remainder of the season, postseason included, but based on the severity of the injury, he could wind up missing time during the 2021-22 season, which the Lakers cannot afford to have happen.
When he is ready to return, Anthony Davis will definitely face a minute-restriction and will have to slowly work his way back to full speed. This is not something the Lakers want to rush and even though AD wants to be on the court, he should not want to rush this process either.
