3 questions facing the Lakers ahead of stretch-run of NBA season

The defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers have been one of the better teams in the league once again this season, but over the last month or so, they have been dealing with a lot of struggles. Both LeBron James and Anthony Davis have been sidelined because of injuries and with some other key players dealing with some nagging injuries, the Lakers have lost 8 of their last 14 games.

Newly acquired Andre Drummond, who signed with Los Angeles after being bought out of his contract with the Cavaliers, has been solid in the five games he has played in, but for this team to have a chance to win another title, they will need their two superstars back and healthy.

Right now, the Los Angeles Lakers as a team may be one of the biggest storylines in the NBA because they currently rank 5th in the Western Conference standings, but if they were fully healthy, they would be contending for the top spot against the Utah Jazz, Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers.

At full strength, this Lakers team is not a 5-seed and if they continue to slip in the standings, they may wind up playing one of these other top teams in the Western Conference in the first-round, something these other teams do not want to see happen at all.

There are a lot of questions surrounding this team heading into the final month or so of the season, so let’s take a look at and address three questions facing the Lakers ahead of the stretch-run of the season.
