Stephen Curry – Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors are currently 10th in the Western Conference, which is one of the main reasons nobody is talking about Stephen Curry in regards to league MVP, but when you look at what he has done this season, it is hard to say that he is not the most valuable player in the league based on how he has carried the Warriors to this point in the season.

During his unanimous MVP season during the 2015-16 regular season, Stephen Curry averaged 30.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 6.7 assists, 2.1 steals and shot 45.4% from three-point range. This season without Klay Thompson, Steph is averaging 30.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.3 steals and is shooting 41.6% from three-point range. Not to mention, his True Shooting Percentage for the 2015-16 season was 66.9% and this year, his TS% is 65.5%.

Stephen Curry numbers this season are very similar to those he put up during his unanimous MVP season, which is why he needs to at least be in the conversation for league MVP this year. The fact that the Warriors are barely holding onto their playoff hopes does not sit well for voters when you look at the fact that the MVP should be on the best team in the league, but without Steph, it is safe to say the Warriors would not have more than 10 wins this season.

He just passed Wilt Chamberlain on the Warriors’ All-Time Scoring List, becoming the Warriors’ all-time leading scorer and since the All-Star break, Steph is averaging 32.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists and is shooting 43.3% from three-point range.

It seems like everybody takes Stephen Curry and what he does for granted and it almost seems like we are used to him putting up these kinds of numbers, so it does not impress many anymore when they see that Steph went for 50+ points and made 10+ three-pointers in a game. What he has done over the course of his career to change the NBA is quite remarkable and given the circumstance and adversity he has faced this season, Stephen Curry definitely deserves to be in the conversation for league MVP.
