New York Knicks Receive: F Andrew Wiggins
Golden State Warriors Receive: F Obi Toppin, F Kevin Knox II, NYK 2021 1st Round Pick, DAL 2021 1st Round Pick
Given the value the Warriors have put on Wiggins, it would definitely take a lot for the Knicks to acquire him, which is why this trade package seems lop-sided towards the Warriors. Most likely, the best trade the Knicks would offer for Wiggins would be this trade, minus one of the first-round picks.
Kevin Knox is not that valuable to the Knicks, as he has been replaced in rotations numerous times and is at the end of their depth chart on the wing, but Obi Toppin is a young player that New York has high hopes for moving forward. They may be reluctant to trade the 8th overall selection in the 2020 NBA Draft because of all of the potential he holds.
Toppin was one of the players the Warriors were interested in selecting with the 2nd overall pick this season and had explored options of possibly moving down/up in the draft to try and draft Toppin, but the Warriors were never able to do so.

In this deal, they not only get a young talent they were interested in at the draft, but two first-round picks in 2021 that should prove to be extremely useful, especially since their main goal is to try and build a young, high-level core for future success.
The Warriors are in an interesting position as a franchise right now because while they have a bunch of young, high-level talents they are trying to develop, they are still championship contenders when fully healthy. With Curry, Green and Thompson all on the court, Golden State is definitely a top team in this league, which is why this offseason could be crucial for them to make all of the right moves.
Could trading away Wiggins for future talent be the right move for them not only to sustain success now, but to continue growing and contending in the future? Let’s take a look at how this trade could affect both teams and whether or not it truly makes sense for both the Knicks and the Warriors.
