This Cavs-Sixers offseason trade is centered on Ben Simmons

The Philadelphia 76ers have been one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference all season. They are currently tied at the top with the Brooklyn Nets with a record of 36-17. It seems like the team is taking the next step store to get a championship contender but that does not mean that they will not be involved in some big moves in the NBA offseason.

Philadelphia had a complete overhaul of leadership this past year. Daryl Morey came in to run basket operations while Doc Rivers became the new head coach on the sideline. When both men were brought in, they had expressed no interest in trading either Joel Embiid or Ben Simmons.

Embiid is having an MVP-caliber season, despite an injury, continuing to fill up the statutes. However, Simmons continues to be a liability from three-point range and this could cause a move.

The Cleveland Cavaliers could be in the market for a player like Simmons because of their backcourt. Collin Sexton has taken the next step toward being a star in the league and showing that he can score at a high rate. How the Cavs decide to build around Sexton will be something to monitor in NBA trade rumors. He is developing faster than the level of success the unit has achieved.

Cleveland has been in a rebuilding phase for years now and could be looking for the next start player to help. Simmons could be just that player.

If the Sixers do not have a chance to play for a championship this season, it will be interesting to see if the team makes some big moves. Here is a potential deal between these two sides in the offseason.
