Does this trade make sense for the Portland Trail Blazers?
Over the years, the Portland Trail Blazers have always been a force come playoff time, but they have not seemed to have what it takes to take down the giants in the Western Conference year-in and year-out. With the addition of Myles Turner though, they may be able to solidify themselves as a giant and be one of the top teams in the Western Conference.
Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum together creates one of the best backcourts in the league, but outside of these two, there is a lot unknown about the production of this team. Norman Powell is an excellent player, but with him likely to become a free agent in the offseason, Portland will have to be willing to pay him $20M+ per season in order to keep him on this team.
It seems highly unlikely that Portland will invest that much money into Norman Powell, which opens up the possibility of trading for a guy like Myles Turner. His versatility on both ends of the court would make him a high-impact player with the Blazers and he can be that third, key player they need to contend for a championship.

Whether it is knocking down a perimeter shot on the offensive-end of the court or blocking shots left and right defensively, Turner has the capability to be an extremely impactful two-way center in this league, but the Pacers under-utilize him offensively.
With the Blazers, he would have his opportunities to prove himself offensively and given his skillset, Myles Turner could become a dominant center in this league next to Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum. This is why this trade is worthwhile for the Portland Trail Blazers.
