Does this trade make sense for the Detroit Pistons?

Again, much like the Lakers, this trade does not make much sense for the Pistons because there is not much value to be had for them in this deal. Right now, the Pistons hold the worst record in the Eastern Conference, but they are not that bad of a team. 

They have lost some really close games late in the fourth quarter of games and in overtime this season, which has skewed their record slightly. Detroit is not a playoff-caliber team yet, but they have a bunch of young players, including Josh Jackson, who can get them to the playoffs over the next couple of seasons. 

Detroit is in a really good position as a franchise right now, which is why they should be continuing to find ways to add talent instead of making the same mistakes they made in the past of trading away their talented players.

With Jerami Grant being one of this year’s breakout stars, the Pistons have an experienced leader, they have a bunch of young, high-level talents and they are going to be a team that a lot of teams sleep on next year, so why change what they have going? 

Getting a 2025 first-round pick is not valuable at all and any draft pick from the Lakers is not really valuable since they are all going to be near the end of whatever round they are in. The best thing the Pistons can do for themselves in the offseason is to continue developing their young players and to continue to find ways to add even more young talent to their roster.
