Orlando Magic Receives: Russell Westbrook, 2021 1st Round Pick (Top 8 Protected), 2023 2nd Round Pick (via CHI)
Washington Wizards Receives: Gary Harris, Mo Bamba
This could be a great deal between both of these underwhelming rosters because it would allow the two sides to benefit from immediate talent as well as look forward to the future as well. Just as the Houston Rockets have seen, the Washington Wizards are experiencing how the Russell Westbrook experiment doesn’t work alongside another star. Moving on from him needs to be a priority.
The Magic would benefit from getting a franchise point guard to stabilize their starting five while the Wizards would benefit from a pair of quality players to enhance their rotation. Markelle Fultz has shown flashes but his injury history is just too troubling at this point to really trust as a long-term option. Meanwhile, Cole Anthony has shown some flashes at times, but largely, he’s not going to be anything special.

Russell Westbrook is still playing at a high-level, despite being shopped around in recent years. Westbrook could work wonders as a member of the Magic, as they desperately need a player to step up at the point guard position.
The main benefit for the Magic would be to receive compensation for taking on Russell Westbrook’s contract while the Wizards would free up flexibility to build around Bradley Beal. Washington would be able to take a chance on Mo Bamba at the five spot and Gary Harris can be a ‘3-and-D’ complement during the final year of his contract.
This trade gives both sides exactly what they’re looking for in terms of talent, and it’s a very fair deal between two competitive rosters. Let’s take a look at how this trade directly impacts each team directly.
