This Knicks-Pistons offseason trade is centered on Jerami Grant

The New York Knicks have been in need of an NBA star presence for quite sometime now. They are a competitive team this season that is looking like they could potentially clinch a playoff spot down the stretch. At the end of the day, this does not matter for a team that would likely lose in four or five games in the first round, but it is a step in the right direction.

A playoff appearance would solidify the start of a new era. Tom Thibodeau took over as head coach of the Knicks and immediately turned the team around on both ends of the floor. They are in elite defensive team but struggle on the other end.

Despite strong seasons of Julius Randle and RJ Barrett, the Knicks like that presents that could take them to the next level. This is something they did not look for the deadline and could wait until the offseason to make a big move.

The Knick should look to the Detroit Pistons. This is something they have done before and can do once again once the season is complete. The Knicks acquired Derrick Rose from Detroit prior to the NBA trade deadline. The Pistons are going to be big-time sellers in the offseason given the current state of the organization.

They are one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference and that means Jeremi Grant could be on the move. He is having the best statistical season of his career and the Pistons could look to take advantage of his value to this point.

Once the regular season is complete, teams that did not make the postseason will begin to look at potential deals. Here is one that could happen between two sides looking to head in the right direction.
