Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Spurs & Thunder
The Spurs pick in 2021 will also be a valuable pick for the Timberwolves, as this pick is expected to land anywhere from 16-24. Minnesota would be getting the chance to draft plenty of high-level, young talents to build with for the future and getting James Wiseman would be huge for them, as he has superstar written all over him.
For the Spurs, their main focus right now is trying to make the playoffs and then retain DeMar DeRozan in the offseason. Should they be unable to re-sign DeRozan in free agency and the opportunity comes their way to get Wiggins, then why shouldn’t they invest two first-round picks to land him and a young frontcourt player in Eric Paschall?
Two key contributors for the price of two first-round picks is definitely worthwhile for the Spurs and for the Oklahoma City Thunder, they get everything they want to do this offseason in this deal.

Their main focus will be to try and trade Al Horford for a draft pick and they can do so, along with two second-round picks, in order to upgrade to a first-round pick.
There is a lot to like about this trade for all of the teams involved, but everything comes back to the idea of whether or not the Timberwolves want to move their star center in the offseason.
