Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Timberwolves & Warriors

Starting with the Warriors, this is a team that still has championship pedigree and aspirations, but they are going to need everybody on their roster healthy and they are going to need another high-level contributor. Andrew Wiggins could be that guy next to Klay and Steph, but getting Karl-Anthony Towns is too good of an opportunity to pass up.

He can not only be the All-Star player the Warriors need to win another title, but KAT could become the focal point of this Warriors team for many years to come. Towns is going to be in the league for at least the next decade, assuming he does not sustain any major injuries, and could eventually become the best player on the Warriors and somebody they can build around as Thompson, Curry and Green enter the back-half of their careers.

They would have to give up a significant amount of draft picks, along with #2 overall pick James Wiseman, Andrew Wiggins and Eric Paschall, but the value Towns would bring to this team would be unmatched. No draft picks and none of the guys they would trade away and match what Towns would do for them.

Moving on to the Timberwolves, if they are to trade Karl-Anthony Towns, then they are going to want a ton of assets in return. Well, they definitely get that in this four-team deal, as they would end up with three first-round picks, two second-round picks, a young center in James Wiseman, who has All-Star potential, and a veteran, proven big man in Al Horford that could help them win games immediately.

Two of the picks the Timberwolves get would also be their own picks that they traded away to the Warriors in order to acquire D’Angelo Russell. So basically, they could end up with the #1 pick in the draft once again since their pick could very well land inside the Top-3 this season.
