Why This Trade Would Benefit The Los Angeles Lakers
The Lakers made it clear that they were interested in improving the backcourt. They have the best duo in the league with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Both players are signed to contract extensions which means the team will be competing for championships for years to come. Now it is all about putting the right players around them moving forward.
The front office has done a good job of that to this point and they can continue here. Terrence Ross is a strong bench piece that can provide valuable minutes for a team looking to win. He is a veteran player and fits into the win-now mode for the Lakers.
Los Angeles has been adding some seasoned players that can contribute in many ways. That is what Ross would be able to do within the offense. He can shoot from deep or create his own shot in the midrange game all the while being a highly efficient off-the-ball shooting threat that can add additional dimensions to the Lakers’ half-court offense.

With Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, the Lakers receive solid defense and efficient catch-and-shoot impact. However, there isn’t much that is brought to the table beyond those two traits. It would be wise to add more dynamic offensive talent when considering just how incredible the offenses are becoming of the NBA’s top championship contenders.
The Lakers have a lot of work to do before they get to the offseason. This is a team with eyes on a championship but it is never too early to think about potential trades that could happen once the year is over. Terrence Ross would be an intriguing option to consider both now and when the time comes to make a move.
