Prior to the NBA trade deadline, the Los Angeles Lakers inquired about Terrence Ross of the Orlando Magic. There was no deal that was made but these two sides will be able to revisit the idea in the offseason. It would help both sides if this deal were to get done.
The Lakers were looking for some more depth at the deadline. They have been banged up and are falling down the standings a bit in the Western Conference. Both LeBron James and Anthony Davis have missed sometime with injuries.
When they return, the Lakers are expected to be contenders to win their second-straight championship. We saw the front office be aggressive in the offseason a year ago and we could see the same strategy once again once this season is complete. They will certainly be a team to watch as ‘buyers’ in NBA trade rumors.

For the Magic, they could continue to sell in the offseason. This is what they did during the NBA trade deadline. Nikola Vucevic was sent to the Chicago Bulls and this began an overhaul. Aaron Gordon went to Denver and Evan Fournier ended up with the Boston Celtics.
The Magic have not looked like the postseason team they have been over the past two years. A brutal first half of the season was enough for the front office decide to clean house.
Ross was a piece that stayed in Orlando. He could be moved in the offseason and this deal could potentially get it done.
