3 way-too-early free agents for Raptors to consider this offseason

It has been a season to forget for the Toronto Raptors. They are currently 11th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 20-32. This is not the position they expected to be in, especially when looking at the current standing of the entire conference. The Raptors were a busy team this NBA offseason and we could see that once again as the front office attempts to build a winner back up.

This past offseason, the Raptors made it a priority to bring back Fred VanVleet. The two sides ended up agreeing on a four-year, $80 million contract. In the entire offseason process, Toronto lost both Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka. This left a glaring hole in the frontcourt that has not been filled.

Norman Powell was sent away at the deadline and the contract of Kyle Lowry will be up after this season. Masai Ujiri has his work cut out for him moving forward. Toronto could have plenty of different pathways this offseason depending on how they finish in the NBA Draft order. They will certainly be a team to watch in NBA rumors as a result.

One thing Ujiri has to fall back on is core players. VanVleet and Pascal Siakam are the real deal and two players that can be built around. The conference is weak as a whole.

Toronto was expecting to be near the top along with the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers but they have fallen way behind and a playoff spot is certainly in jeopardy. If they do not make the postseason, this means the front office will have some extra time to study the free-agent market.

Once the NBA Finals are complete, teams will begin their offseason plans. For the Raptors, these three targets should be on their early list to watch.
