This Knicks-Hornets offseason trade is centered on Terry Rozier

Does this trade make sense for the Charlotte Hornets?

Giving up Terry Rozier would definitely be a big move by the Hornets, but the question they need to ask themselves is whether or not they need him next to LaMelo Ball in their backcourt? Rozier’s most underrated skill is his ability to play without the ball in his hands and he has thrived in this type of role this season.

Rozier is shooting upwards of 40% from three-point range this season and is just as lethal without the ball in his hands as he is with it. His athleticism and quick burst is what separates him from other combo-guards in this league, which is why he has fit in so well next to Ball in the Hornets’ backcourt.

Trading him away, especially with Devonte’ Graham and Malik Monk being free agents would not necessarily be the best move for Charlotte. Keeping their young core intact is extremely important, especially since this team is on the rise.

Instead of trading away key contributors, the Hornets should look to be buyers in the offseason and look for ways to add high-level frontcourt talent without giving up any of their key guys. Mitchell Robinson would surely be a great fit for them, but at the cost of Terry Rozier, this trade would not make much sense.

Getting draft picks is always a good thing, especially for a young team like the Hornets, but they need more key role players and talents that can help them win now instead of adding onto their youthful talent. Charlotte will be a team to watch in NBA trade rumors as they continue to look to improve around their core.
