Does this trade make sense for the New York Knicks?
Entering the offseason, the nicks are expected to have about $61M in cap space to play around with, so why not invest $18M of this cap in a key player like Terry Rozier. Not only is he under contract for one more season, but the Knicks would have the option of either re-signing him after next season or going after another high-level player in free agency with the cap space Rozier would then free up.
This is a win-win move for the Knicks because they not only get rid of Kevin Knox, who they have been trying to trade away now for a while, but they also get a dynamic, multi-way scorer who can carry them offensively with Randle and Barrett. Their cap space makes them a team to watch in NBA rumors this offseason, but not the trade chips they are willing to mvoe.
Oh, and not to mention, the Knicks would still have about $50M in cap space to play around with in the offseason. Not only could they make this trade and acquire Rozier, but they would still be able to go after key free agents like DeMar DeRozan, Victor Oladipo and possibly even a guy like Kyle Lowry.

The Knicks do like the fact that they have a lot of draft compensation over the next few years and they will likely want to hold onto these picks to draft high-level, young talents, but getting Terry Rozier is just as good because he himself is only 27-years-old.
Rozier is just entering the prime of his career and with him playing at a high-level, he can contribute now and possibly for many more years with the Knicks.
