Why This Trade Would Benefit The Minnesota Timberwolves
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been coming in last place with Katl-Anthony Towns and they can certainly do it without him. It is getting dangerously close to times that they should consider dumping salary and this is why Towns has come up in NBA trade rumors recently. It will be interesting to see if the front office decides to pull the trigger on what they thought was their centerpiece player.
The moves at the front office has made I’ve been to try and build around Towns. They brought in D’Angelo Russell on the perimeter, who is also one of Towns’ close friends. Malik Beasley is having a strong offensive season and Anthony Edwards is most likely going to be the Rookie of the Year.
None of this has led to team success as they are once again near the basement in the conference. For a rebuilding team, rotation ready players and draft capital our gold. This is one Minnesota would be getting in this deal. The Memphis Grizzlies could send a significant amount of draft compensation as well as some helpful complementary players to use alongside Edwards.
Karl-Anthony Towns is certainly an elite player but he is not irreplaceable in the sense of building a winning roster without him. The Timberwolves can look elsewhere for a star once they get everything else in line. It’s going to take some doing for Minnesota to get back to contending.
