Jerami Gran – Detroit Pistons

Jerami Grant has been spectacular this season and even though the Pistons made it clear near the trade deadline that they had no intentions on giving up their breakout star, this will not stop the Celtics from pursuing him in the offseason should they look to add another big name to their star-studded trio.

Leading up to the NBA trade deadline the Celtics reportedly had a ton of interest in acquiring Jerami Grant and had reached out to the Pistons about a potential trade for him, but Detroit did not want any part of dealing their breakout star this season. Could they potentially look to trade him to Boston in the offseason though?

Boston’s championship window is beginning to close with the Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks all having their own versions of a “Big 3” and while the Celtics also have three All-Star worthy players, they do not have the supporting cast like these other teams to lean on for production as well.

Trading for Jerami Grant gives the Celtics one of the best starting rotations in the league and four legit All-Star level threats to score from anywhere on the court. Not only could he complement the current Celtics’ stars quite nicely, but he could absolutely lead this team should someone go down with an injury or when any of Boston’s current All-Star caliber players are out of the game.

It would take a ton for the Celtics to convince the Pistons to trade their star forward, but if Danny Ainge and the Celtics’ front-office want Jerami Grant, then they will do everything they can to try and acquire him, which will definitely involve giving up Marcus Smart.
