This Hornets-Magic offseason trade gives Mo Bamba a fresh start

There are plenty of instances where a prospect does not pan out on the team that selected him in the NBA Draft. In this case, a change of scenery is best for both sides. This is what could be happening in Orlando with Mo Bamba. If he is on the trading block in the offseason, the Charlotte Hornets could be a team interested in the big man.

Bamba was a top pick of the Magic back in 2018 but has not worked out to this point. He has suffered injustice that had halted his progress and his production has never reached full potential. There is little chance that Bamba flourishes in Orlando. A trade would be the best option for both sides.

The Magic were sellers at the NBA trade deadline. They sent away Nikola Vucevic, Aaron Gordon, and Evan Fournier. This showed that they are heading in a much different direction. They could continue to sell and land some draft capital for a prospect.

Charlotte could be a team interested in a player like Bamba. They are weak in the frontcourt and could use some more depth. The Hornets made it a point to add more talent in the backcourt by drafting LaMelo Ball. He was putting together a Rookie-of-the-Year season before suffering a fractured wrist.

Now, the Hornets will lean on Gordon a Hayward and Terry Rozier as they attempt to clinch a playoff spot in the second half of the season. When the offseason comes, the Hornets know they will need to add some more power down low.

This is a trade that could benefit both sides in many different ways. Let’s take a look and see how it might get done once the season is complete.
