Why This Trade Would Make Sense For The Atlanta Hawks
This is a good trade for the Atlanta Hawks because they are able to get some great return value for one of their most expensive players. The Atlanta Hawks want to be competitive long beyond 2021, and making a trade like this is a good way to do that.
Cam Reddish hasn’t really lived up to the hype of being a top ten draft pick thus far in his NBA career and the Hawks would be wise to flip him while he still has value. Reddish has only mustered up a points per game average of 10.7 through his first 84 games which is respectable; but it’s his overall lack of availability and production that has the Hawks irritated.
Reddish is shooting just 37.8 percent from the floor throughout his NBA career and an even worse 30.9 percent from beyond the arc. Those numbers won’t cut it in the NBA, especially not for a playoff team like the Hawks. He’s a longer term developmental piece that just isn’t improving quickly enough to keep up.

Adding a pair of solid draft picks for Cam Reddish has more upside than retaining Reddish because the new coaching staff will be able to bring in players that fit the new look roster.
