Why This Trade Would Make Sense For The New York Knicks

This is a good trade for the New York Knicks because they are able to trade for a young player with a lot of upside without having to give up much. Cam Reddish was a first round pick by the Atlanta Hawks back in 2019 and he has shown flashes of being a top tier small forward in the NBA.

The Knicks don’t have much depth on their roster, which is the main reason why RJ Barrett has been forced to anchor down the small forward role for the team this season. With the addition of Cam Reddish, the Knicks could have a long term answer at the small forward position without having to give up any of their original draft picks.

With the emergence of Julius Randle, the Knicks are really rounding into form. RJ Barrett still has a lot of potential to tap into as a player while Mitchell Robinson and Immanuel Quickley both contribute in key roles. Adding a wing talent with potential like Cam Reddish could be an intriguing option alongside those talents.

Cam Reddish is currently averaging 11.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists for the Atlanta Hawks, but there’s certainly plenty of room for improvement. Creating a forward combination of Julius Randle and Cam Reddish could strike feat into Eastern Conference foes for years to come.
