Why This Trade Would Benefit The New Orleans Pelicans
The New Orleans Pelicans have been near the bottom of the standings in the Western Conference for years now. They are beginning to add some star power and it begins with Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson. This is a strong duo to build around and the front office knows that they will have to continue to approve if they want to compete.
Kristaps Porzingis is the perfect player to come to town. He is locked up in a contract and young enough to where he has plenty of years left. This is all contingent on if he’s able to stay healthy. Regardless, New Orleans has some assets they would be able to flip.
Steven Adams is in the final year of his contract and Eric Bledsoe has been a trade piece since coming to town. The Pelicans traded JJ Redick at the NBA trade deadline and discontinued their plan to get younger within the rotation.

Kristaps Porzingis would create a bit of a big three in New Orleans. He would provide a dynamic stretch-five skill-set that is sorely needed alongside Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson. This is not to say that the Pelicans would immediately become a championship contender but it is a move that would help them improve right away.
