Los Angeles Clippers Receive: G D’Angelo Russell

Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: F Marcus Morris Sr, G Patrick Beverley, G Terance Mann, LAC 2022 2nd Round Pick

The Los Angeles Clippers are a championship-caliber team this season and have a really good chance to once again contend in the Western Conference, but if they come up short of their ultimate goal, they could look to tear things down and start over with Kawhi Leonard and Paul Geirge at the forefront of everything.

The trend in today’s NBA is to not pair just have two All-Star caliber/high-level talents, but to now have three of them on one team. We have seen this with the Nets, Bucks and 76ers in the East and are now starting to see it done with the Suns and Lakers as well.

It is a very strong possibility that the Clippers will look to add a third All-Star talent to their roster should they fail to make the Western Conference Finals again, which is why D’Angelo Russell could be a target for them in the offseason.

They desperately need some backcourt help and Russell is young enough where he could be a part of the Clippers long-term plans should he stay healthy, which is why this would be a good fit. Next to Kawhi and PG13, Russell could definitely be a much better facilitator than he has been during his now five-year NBA career and could continue being an impactful offensive weapon.

For the T-Wolves, they would not get much value in terms of draft assets from this deal with the Clippers, but Marcus Morris Sr. could definitely make an impact for this young team, as could veteran guard Pat Beverley. Not to mention, Terance Mann is a great young talent that is starting to find his footing in the league.

Beverley and Morris could impact the T-Wolves short-term, but Mann could definitely be an impactful, young role player they look to develop further and utilize for many years to come. There is definitely some value for Minnesota to get out of this trade with the Clippers.
