This Knicks-Timberwolves offseason trade features Karl-Anthony Towns

It has been eight seasons since the Knicks last had a winning season and made the playoffs, but this year, they are closing in on being a “lock” to make the playoffs. While there is still a ton of basketball yet to be played this season, the Knicks are one of the best defensive teams in the NBA this season and have looked like a dominant playoff-caliber team at times this season.

Led by breakout star and first-time All-Star Julius Randle, the Knicks have found themselves in the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference for weeks now and have strung together some really impressive wins against some of the top teams in the league this season.

Tom Thibodeau has done an excellent job in his first season as the Knicks head coach and this is exactly the time of season New York needed to have. Over the years, they have been unable to land big name players who want to play in Madison Square Garden for one of the NBA’s most historic franchises because they have been so poorly run as a team.

Not only does New York have the capability to land two max-contract players in free agency this offseason, but they have been linked to numerous players over the last few months, one of which being Karl-Anthony Towns. Minnesota is starting to become the laughing stock of the NBA in terms of having a talented roster, but never being able to do anything with it.

Since Towns has been in the league, the T-Wolves have gone 162-230, not including going 12-38 to this point this season. He has only been to the playoffs once and right now, it seems like Minnesota could be heading towards yet another rebuild with both Russell’s and Towns’ futures up-in-the-air based on recent NBA trade rumors.

The best thing that could happen to KAT is to be traded, and there is no better place for him to go than the Knicks. Not only could this be his team, but he went to school in Metuchen, New Jersey and grew up a Knicks fan. This would be a dream come true for Towns to play in MSG, which is why the Knicks should do everything they can to make this possible. This will certainly be something to monitor in NBA trade rumors going forward

Let’s take a look at a potential offseason blockbuster trade that would send Karl-Anthony Towns to New York City, pairing him with Julius Randle and R.J. Barrett on the Knicks.
