Why This Trade Would Benefit The Los Angeles Lakers

It takes depth to win championships and that is something that the Los Angeles Lakers know well. This is why they have continued to improve the roster and we can see that once again this offseason. If Montrezl Harrell is not viewed as a long-term piece, he could be sent away for a return.

Bertans would be an interesting player coming back to the Lakers. He is one of the better three-point shooters in the game and would give the rotation great side of the bench. Los Angeles is a team that could use some more prowess from three-point range.

Bryant is another piece that could give the team valuable minutes off the pine. Washington would have to send over some draft capital which the Lakers could use in other deals moving forward. This is a chance for the bench to be improved for some expiring contracts.

One of the factors in this situation is that Andre Drummond’s future with the Lakers. The Lakers do not necessarily need to move on from Montrezl Harrell, but the long-term implications of paying two centers is something Los Angeles should look to avoid. It would be better to have a sharpshooter like Davis Bertans to add into the mix than to have two centers.

The front office of the Lakers is extremely strong. They know how to re-tool the team and that was about continuing to get better as the Western Conference has done. They are not afraid to use creativity in order to reconfigure the supporting cast around LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
