Boston Celtics Receive: Domantas Sabonis

Indiana Pacers Receive: Marcus Smart, Aaron Nesmith, Tristan Thompson, 2021 1st Round Pick, 2021 2nd Round Pick (via OKC), 2023 1st Round Pick

If the Boston Celtics are looking for an improvement down low, they could look to the Indiana Pacers for Domantas Sabonis. He has quickly turned into an NBA All-Star caliber big man and one that can lead the team. He will not be asked to be the centerpiece in Boston and he could help contribute to a team looking to win a championship.

By adding Sabonis into the mix, the Celtics would be able to form an intriguing collection of franchise building blocks that is headlined by the duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. If Kemba Walker can continue begin the 2021-22 NBA season fully healthy, it could be an intriguing group.

Indiana could be looking to cut salaries in the offseason. They could take on players like Marcus Smart and Tristan Thompson because they would be cheap and could fill important roles. Prospect Aaron Nesmith would be part of the deal, including two first rounders in the future, would be on the way to the Pacers.

While the first-round picks the Pacers would be receiving in this scenario almost certainly would not be all that fantastic, they could use those in the NBA offseason to move up more in the draft order if they desired. Of course, depending on the timing of this hypothetical trade scenario.

Lets take a closer look and see how this deal would benefit both sides right away.
